Safety, toxicology and efficacy in preclinical models

Before we can use microbubbles in humans, we have to make sure that they are safe to use and have been approved by the relevant authorities. To do this, we test the toxicity of the microbubbles in the laboratory to ensure that their use does not pose any serious health risks or side effects. We are also checking whether the ultrasound diagnosis of inflammatory bowel diseases and the monitoring of disease progression with the microbubbles work precisely. This is being carried out in collaboration with the Institutes of Laboratory Animal Science and Experimental Molecular Imaging at RWTH Aachen University Hospital. Thanks to the certification of the institutes, we can use the data obtained for the approval of the microbubbles in the next studies.
